The Vietnamese Cultural & Heritage Centre_Sunshine North_2014 Concept Design
The Vietnamese Community in Australia – Victorian Chapter, seeks to develop a cultural and heritage centre with the vision to be the beacon for Vietnamese identity in Victoria. Representing the richness of heritage and culture, whilst at the same time exuding a sense of enthusiasm, the community is proud to embrace an inspired future.
The following is a concept design outlining a centre which facilitates this purpose, as well as providing much needed community services.
The Vietnamese Cultural & Heritage Centre is located in Sunshine North, approximately 15km from the Melbourne CBD to the North West, and is within close proximity to the Western Ring Road as well as Melbourne’s rail network. This represents an opportunity to service not only the first generation Vietnamese as a space to congregate and reflect, but also a convenient gathering space for the Australian born Vietnamese to engage and learn about the history and culture of the people who came before them.
Through this, the Vietnamese people seek to further enhance their integration into the Australian multi-cultural fabric, and also to preserve the knowledge and be grateful for the sacrifices of previous generations.
